Abdominal breathing is the term often used to describe this breathing technique. The term belly breathing is often used with pediatric patients/clients. Breathing exercises can help individuals with stress or anxiety disorders. Abdominal breathing can mitigate hyperarousal in the body when under stress and help to focus the mind.
